The
United States Congress has mandated a schedule for the Internal
Revenue Service to change to 100% Electronic Filing. Why?
There are lots of good reasons, here are a few:
-
More efficient. When was the
last time you thought of the word efficient at
the same time as government. It doesn't happen
often. For example, instead of the IRS transferring
numbers from paper returns to their computers,
our computers now speak directly to their
computers. That alone is an enormous increase
in efficiency.
-
It also makes fewer mistakes.
If something doesn't look right to the IRS
computer, the problem is hashed out
immediately between computers. If there is no
resolution, the IRS computer won't accept the
return. It will send it back with an
explanation of what it doesn't like and what
needs to be done before it can be re-filed.
-
That means fewer of those
letters that you sometimes get from the IRS asking for more
information. This in turn reduces the number
of hours spent on the telephone waiting to
talk to a real person. When you do get one, you
have to try to
explain something that you don't understand
anyway.
-
Good for the environment.
Think of all the paper that doesn't have to be made and later disposed of.
The same applies to ink.
-
And faster refunds. Everyone likes that.
-
Of course the most important
reason of all:
WE WILL NOT CHARGE
YOU FOR E-FILING IF WE PREPARE YOUR RETURN !
